Join Coastal WildScapes for a field trip to Ceylon Wildlife Management Area (WMA) with Carol Denhof (president of the Longleaf Alliance) and Eamonn Leonard (GA DNR plant biologist). The Ceylon WMA is a 27,000-acre property located in coastal Camden County just south of the Satilla River.

The diverse habitat types of Ceylon WMA include maritime hammocks, longleaf pine-wiregrass sandhills, blackwater creek swamps, and saltmarshes. It is a natural area enjoyed by birders, hikers, hunters, and fishermen. The gopher tortoise, a keystone species, makes this area its home and its burrows provide shelter for more than 350 species. Ceylon WMA is also home to a large number of rare and protected species. Botanical treasures found here include unique species such as tarflower and wiregrass, along with longleaf pine.

While a fishing/hunting license or lands pass is required to visit a WMA on your own, it is encouraged but not necessary for this field trip.

Register by Mail: RSVP to admin@coastalwildscapes.org. Remit payment to Coastal WildScapes P.O. Box 1106, Darien GA 31305
